Buyer commission rebate and tax reporting

You guys have been so helpful...I have one more question!

Does the Buyer (recipient of the commission rebate) have a tax liability on the amount of the rebate?  Since technically, it's now the Seller's money, paying the Buyer's agent?

No tax liability. Just a reduction of your tax basis in the house
