I don't think this is a builder problem. This is a 1-person human/subcontractor problem who obviously didn't do the job right. But the builder does have the responsibility to give you a properly built home. But the blame needs to go straight to the subcontractor and the warranty/customer service after the fact needs to come from the builder.
And from what you demonstrated, it sounds like Richmond homes is a builder to avoid doing business with because they don't stand by their product.
It's kind of like going to supercuts for a haircut. You get a bad hair cut. You can't blame supercuts company per say, you blame the lady who gave you the cut. But supercut's policy needs to kick in and provide you with a solution such as changing your barber to someone that will fix your hair.
This is why buying these crappy american homes suck so much. The subcons are pushed and pushed and nickled and dimed and they work tireless to build all these homes fast. And so corners are cut. And this is why ladies and gentlemen, every HOA tract will eventually sue the builder for frivolous HOA litigation against the builder because the statue of limitation would expire.
What happened to the good ole days of building your own home yourself? Hammer and nail.. Everything done to your standards.
That's exactly why I prefer the DIY routes. Good contractors are few and far. Everything done by you own hands to your house is a guarantee best bet to stand the test of time. Is it easy, NO, but the feel good about it is GREAT. Other will say, well I don't have the time. I then would respond you don't values your house and neglect the responsibility of being a homeowner.
