Anyone notice the dummied up picture on this QH home?

This was a model for Fieldstone Tapestry. To the right is a 5' wall and landscape. The realtor did some creative photoshop to eliminate the sideview of the adjacent home to make the home more estate like. CHEATER!





Lets say you have an old car for sale. It has a big dent on the side. Then you take a pic of it and alter the photo as to not show the 'dent'. Isn't this misrepresentation of the fact?



Sure, the RE agent photo trickery would tempt me to see the property in person. But once I am there and finds out s/he had doctored the photo. I would not be a happy camper. And if he's willing to be deceitful with the property photos. Will he also be deceitful with the paperworks? Trust is no longer there. And that's not good for business.
 
I think there's nothing wrong with adding clouds and what have you. But when you actually "touch up" the property. It's wrong.
 
I've noticed higher end properties using HDR to make their photos pop. It is a very cool effect that uses multiple photos of the same scene taken with different depths of field. Then you use photoshop or another photo manipulation program to merge the best parts of each photo into one "perfect" photo. When done correctly it can create an image that is better than reality.



My thought is that it is counterproductive to use techniques such as this because when a potential buyer sees the house there will be letdown. Even if they don't know why the home failed to live up to the high expectations created by the photo they will nonetheless be disappointed. The original poster's photochop is similar to this and probably worse due to the amatuerish work of the chopper. I think it is comparable to a "bait and switch" sales tactic. IMO, it seems very tacky and does not speak well of the realtor or homeowner.



I think even AZDavid thinks this photochop is of poor quality.

Any specific feature that you think give the PS away? To my eye, it just show that they went a great length to bring in photographic/cinematographic equipments to light up the place for the shot, and they waited until the sunset for the color.</blockquote>


That tonal range and detail isn't possible without combining multiple photos together.
 
Been noticing this a lot more photoshopping in the upper tier house listings also. Here's another example of a listing that has been modified w/ photoshop:

i don't know if this one is using the HDR method that QH is talking about, but from the saturation of the colors in the pictures, it looks like it has been photoshopped to bring out the colors. when's the last time you've seen such LIME GREEN grass?

This house is likely unfinished and also a spec custom. The owner is not staging the home for the photo and instead provided the design imagery photos used for the Design Review Board as the photos for the listing.

That photo is just a bad photoshop job, but it is another example of a growing trend. Just when you think realtors can't stoop any lower they find a new way to behave unethically!
 
I admit my touch-ups. Not to mislead anyone, but to present the home in the best light.

Here are a few that my photographer missed and I corrected (lo-tech with Microsoft Paint).

Too funny... not only does he lay sod... but he Photoshops too!



Functional touchups is acceptable... but had you erased that tree in the last picture and put in a mountain or a 99 Ranch (FCB bait)... that would have been a no-no.



(Why do I have a feeling bkshoppr is Photoshopping out 3-car garages on all the Irvine SFR pictures?)
