7 passenger cars

Iho, just curious. What are you going to drive soon once your kids are grown and you no longer need the van?

I'm already fantasizing about this. One of the benefits of having them at an early age... I'm younger than most of you guys but probably have the oldest kid! Mine will be driving in 5 1/2 years. I'll be young & free soon to get any sports car I want. Can't wait!!!! Second childhood, here I come. Young and free. Woo!

No minivans (sorry no offense to other minivan drivers, but I'm not a minivan girl).
Any particular reason why?

Have you test driven one? Once you go auto sliding door... you'll never ask for more.
Minivans = teh suck!
Say that with 8 people in your car... oh wait... you can't.

I would never want 8 people in my car.  2 is enough, I might stretch it to 4 if I'm feeling up to it.

However most women seem to have anxiety about driving vehicles bigger than minivans.

Truer words were never spoken. Even minivan size makes me uncomfortable.

No matter how fast you drive a minivan, the person behind you doesn't want to be behind you. So prepare to be cutoff. A lot.

Excellent point.

I'm going to chalk this difference opinion up to your Facebook status.

Yes... I played the married with children card.

Heh... my son said he wants my minivan when he can drive. He like the roominess and sliding doors.

Even when they are out of the house... I may still keep it, it's a great people mover. Just picked up some relatives at LAX, everyone and all their luggage fit easily.

But if I didn't need one, I'd go back to a truck in a heartbeat.

I think the new Toyota Highlander is can seat 8 now and it has something all you ladies want:

No offense but this is the last place a purse should be set. Criminals instinctively look for a quick grab on the front passenger seat or there as they are the most common place. I take the phone out and hide the bag. My friend was quickly robbed in broad daylight at a redlight in Anaheim because it was such an easy snatch with her purse right there.

You should let USCTrojanCPA take you son for a ride in his GT3RS, I'm pretty sure he will change his mind about minivan.

You can't cut off what you can't go around.

Just like how I play basketball. :)

Come on, Gramps. What - no Oldsmobile?

If you think BMW X5 is not big enough,  BMW is planning to build something bigger for you.  BMW is planing to build a huge 7 passenger SAV call the X7.  X7 will be significant bigger and wider than X5.  No pictures and not much info yet.  All we know is that X7 will be built at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina factory which also built X5 and X3.  BMW plans to announce X7 on March 28.

Used Sequoia (2005-2007ish). It's a reliable car, seats 7, won't set you back too much. If you don't like it, try again.

Any 7 passenger car should be measured. Some don't fit in garages well and I know from experience that the Sequoia is a tight fit.

I had a Sequoia, they actually seat 8.  :)  You are right they are a very reliable car.  Never had a major problem with it.  It just kept going.  I sold it at 160K miles because it was 10 years old and the wife wanted a newer car.

I currently have the Lexus GX470 (new model is the GX460 (4.6L) vs the 470's (4.7L) engine).  It seats 8 as well but that is tight.  It will seat 7 pretty well.

Regarding size vs. Sequoia, the GX is an inch or two skinnier and about 6 inches shorter so it will fit in the garage easier.

The Sequoia was a great people and stuff hauling beast.  I had 8 people in the Sequoia with enough room for everyone's luggage to boot!

One time with the seats out/folded, I hauled a large stump grinder in the back of the Sequoia with no problem.  That thing  can carry LARGE items.
