I frequently think about this one a lot because it is one of my biggest fears in life. But I'm not sure it belongs on the list of "What Ifs" because in my case and I'm sure many others, the house could instantly be paid off with just a portion of the life insurance money alone. You do realize some of the richest people out there are widows! There is a reason for that. So, there probably isn't really that much to worry about. Income stream, yes. He makes what I consider to be a very good amount of money... certainly way more than I could ever replace by myself alone without getting remarried. But with no mortgage to worry about, that certainly would take the pressure off needing as large of an income stream. But then my mind goes to the other scenario which is who really wants to live in a house their dead spouse used to live in. Hell no. I don't think I could do it. Then time marches on, the kids grow up, and you just don't need a house that big when you're alone. Okay. I'm just going to go curl up in a ball and die now...
