Opinions: best choice of hardwood flooring, granite color w/ white cabinets

We've had good luck with Belmont Flooring on State College for our wood floors.  We used them twice in the last 10 years.  Very nice people. Re: countertop color--  consider the amount of light coming in from adjacent windows, as well as lighting above when choosing your countertops.  Darker...

    Common Core Standards

Hear that next year all incoming 7th graders will start in 7th grade common core Math-  then a few(?) weeks later can test into 8th grade common core math-  then test again a few(?) weeks later into Common Core Algebra.  Looks like there is a path to Algebra in 7th grade-  just may take longer...

    Orchard Hills Housing Construction Underway...

I wonder if TUSD will change the format of the Orchard Hills school back to its original distinction of K-8 once these homes are open.  Right now it is houses grades 5-8 (not really a middle school).  I hear that Hicks Canyon is really crowded already and it currently is K-4-  perhaps that will...

    Stonegate Elementary Waiting List?

I know it sounds crazy- but from our experience so far in 2 different schools in iusd-  it's accurate. Irvine is very transient-  people are coming and going throughout the school year.  You can start the year with 32 kids and 1/3 of them will be replaced by the end of the school year...

    Great Park Neighborhoods

What's with the crazy street names?  Stizza?  Chiffon?  It's like that pumpkin orange car on the lot-- do the salesmen get spiffs for selling those too?

    Removing your own stitches

Personally,  I would do it myself as you don't have very many.  Another option-  Call your local "minute clinics" (CVS, etc) a call and see if their nurse will do it for a small charge.

    Drapes

Restoration Hardware sells rings with a smooth silconized coating inside.  I have them on a bronze rod and there hasn't been any scuff marks so far (3+ years).

    Saratoga Upgrades

I find that the newer parks are pretty crowded (especially on the weekends) but if you cross over into (old) Northwood,  there are many beautiful parks with brand new equipment that are virtually empty.  Try Blue Gum park--  it has big shady trees and lot of grass-  great for little ones.  You...
