ICE or EV?

Damn, even Costco is hating on Tesla now. Connect, my car insurance through Costco, just increased my insurance from $1183 to $2157. I was shocked when I saw the Renewal Declaration.

Prius Prime:
Bodily injury premium went from $304 to $394
Collision premium went from $218 to $297
Both seem reasonable

Model 3:
Bodily injury premium went from $255 to $755
Collision premium went from $324 to $584

That's just crazy. I guess I'll have to call Mercury to see if I get a better deal, with the home coverage as well.

You'd be surprised how many non-1%ers drive EVs.

According to an Experian Automotive report on electric vehicles, out of the 292.3 million cars and trucks on the road in the U.S. in 2024, approximately 4,092,200 (1.4%) of those were electric cars. This number is up from 2 million electric vehicles in 2022 and 1.3 million in 2021.

Remove California from the numbers and EV's are less than 1% of cars on the road in the other 49 states.

The operative word being "around". It's not even 1% unless you round up.

On the other hand, if you asked Americans how many would like to own a classic Ford Bronco it's closer to 20%.

People who bought Teslas to virtue signal are paying a steep price in depreciation and heart burn.

Meanwhile, anyone wanting a slightly used Tesla is in for some pretty sweet bargains. Here's a 2024 Tesla, loaded with aftermarket features, and just 4,300 miles that just sold for $78k - about 50k less than it cost is my guess
