Any direct comparisons with Tang 190 in CV?
I tried out Yigah tonight and got the Pork Cutlet and Galbitang (same 2 items I always get at Tang 190)
- Ban Chan
3 pickled items (raddish, cabbage, leafy green) and a glass noodle one. Definitely one of the worst ban chan varieties at a Korean restaurant I've had. Taste of each of these dishes were pretty good though. The glass noodle one was unique and similar to Jap Jae, but without any other vegetables.
- Pork Cutlet
I accidentally order special "korean" version and when it came out, it was covered in a watery butter/tomato sauce. The watery butter sauce really put me off so I asked if I could get the normal version instead. The normal version is the exact same one as the Tang 190. Yigah's portion is HUGE. I would say double the size since it's thicker and much larger than the one Tang 190 servces. Pork was very tender, but I felt there was too much breading (a little thicker than the thickness of the pork cutlet). The sauce they provide is a standard cutlet sauce, nothing special. Tang 190's sauce is home made and has a much deeper and unique flavor (I believe there is some apple in it). Also, the shredded cabbage at Yigah has a thicker cut than Tang 190 so you can really taste the cabbage. I prefer the much thinner cabbage puree from Tang 190.
- Galbitang
Taste very similar to Tang 190's version. Only difference is that this one had much more of a pepper flavor. I would have preferred less pepper so I could enjoy the flavor of the broth more. The pork ribs tasted the same as Tang 190's (same soft texture as well).
Price-wise, Yigah is definitely a better bargain. Prices are about $1-$2 cheaper per dish than Tang 190. However, I will gladly pay the higher price at Tang 190 due to their better ban chan, better tasting food, and easier parking.
