XBOX Live Question

This will sound a bit odd.



I have a Xbox 360 with Xbox Live Account.



Few years ago a friend of mine gave me his old Xbox. I just dug it out recently from the garage.



Is there any way that I can use the Xbox Live silver account from the Xbox 360, on the old Xbox?



In the old Xbox, the XBox live section only had recover old account and create new account. When I try to use recover old account it promoted me for credit card info. There isn't a function where I can just put in my Xbox Live ID and password to log-in. And when I choose "create new account", it prompted me to input some reg code. I suppose it expects me to go out and buy a Xbox Live subscription plan box kit thing.

If I remember correctly the original Xbox did not have gold or silver Live accounts. There was only one type of (paid) account. The gold and silver types were added when the Xbox 360 was released.



I don't know if the accounts are backwards compatible.
