I saw a mid 20's guy with big expensive sunglasses pull out of a rather shady automotove repair "mini mall" on Friday, in a late model Ferrari that sells for somewhere in the neighborhood of $300K. I made a comment to the guy standing next to me as he drove past "Oh, good. They got my beater jumpstarted. How nice of them to drive it up for me."

The guy next to me said "That's Mohamed's son. He's got a baller car, but I doubt he's got enough money in his pocket to fill the tank."

HUH?

"He just filed for bankrupcy a couple of weeks ago. $3 million dollars. Had a big house, all the toys, and just filed. Not sure what happened."

this is the neighborhood to the east of fashion island if you're heading down macarthur toward what people typically think of when referring to cdm.

somewhat comparable to the port streets. not oceanfront, may or may not have views, but extremely desirable nonetheless. not a huge home but good-sized lot. you would pay far in excess of $5900/mo to buy a quarter acre property in that neighborhood.
