What ever happened to these townhomes ? I remember in the house raffle like 2 years ago they were going to give one of them away. And it was on the Taylor Woodrow website. Now there's no sign of them anywhere. Did they pull this project from Woodbury ?

Esplanade was indeed a Taylor Woodrow project. Oops! Taylor Woodrow has driven its good name into the dirt. The company has changed hands for the third time. The KB and Ryland managements who reigned the previous regime are also gone. For the time being the name is Taylor Morrison Homes.

Many architects during the boom time designed projects without any discipline in cost restraint. This was a part of the reasons for the escalating construction cost. When construction cost became too high because the design was too complex then it is impractical to built and sell a million dollar townhome.

The knife catchers out there are becoming extinct. It was a big mistake in hiring an architect who has no clue in construction cost. Hidey is well known for fancy luxury products but clueless in designing products with low price tag! As products get fancier so are the prices. It is about time to focus on the basic and simple solutions for homes rather than those Caesar Palace of home designs!

Just like everywhere in California the financial residual equation has to balance. There are busy architects out there fixing bad architects' work for this very reason. Time is different now. Good houses don't sell today but only the best houses get sold at a lowered price. Somewhere along the math equation something has to give such as land price or cost of construction or both.
