William F. Buckley, Jr. is gone

<p>A great man, the intellectual leader and defender of conservative ideals, passed away while working at his home. His impact on American politics, media, and daily life will never truly be measured but the fruit of his efforts can be seen all around us. I just wanted to express my sadness at our loss.</p>

I always like Bill Buckley. He was a great debater, and he was able to take conservative principals and make coherent arguments with them. In many instances I did not agree with him, but his intellectual challenge was always useful for thinking through my own positions when I disagreed. The National Review was never the same when he quit writing for it regularly.

I saw him speak once at the Yale 300th anniversary ceremony. He was great. Big Bird and Paul Simon were there too. Closest thing to an acid trip I've ever had.
