My general rule is to buy insurance whenever you are dealing with large purchases or personal liability.

No insurance for your electronic gadgets though.

how about marriage insurance?  CA divorce rate is all time high. 

The best insurance for that is just not to get married.  haha

No company would take that...risk too high
