I have to admit, some of the best Rock n Roll bands emerged in 1980s. Here are my three favorite bands during my teens. You?

Def Leppard - Hysteria

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart:

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Poison - Nothin' But A Good Time

No way Panda, you loved Rock in the 80's? I really liked Motley Crue in high school, but my all time favorite is ACDC, albeit the Bon Scott pre 80's era. On the rare occasion that I hear Def Leppard on the radio today, I do turn it up. I stumbled on a Poison song last week and had to change the station. I can't believe I used to listen to those guys.

Those are STILL my favorite bands.

And remember August 30th - Verizon Amptheater - Def Leppard - Poision - Cheap Trick

See y'all at the Duran Duran show tonight.

I can't believe I was a big fan of these guys (Poison) in my teens. They look like four white chicks. I will never forget the Motley Crue's Doctor Feel Good concert in high school. It was the best concert that i have ever been to. In the 21st century, they sure don't make rock music like they used too like the 80's and 90's. The music was real and original.

I was also into Mettalica, Guns n Roses, and Ozzy. Man, brings back a lot of childhood memories.

Guns n Roses - O Sweet Child of Mine.

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Ozzy and old Black Sabbath were favorites too... again, when I hear one of these come on the radio, I turn it up. I liked G n R too, but they didn't produce as much music as AC/DC or Ozzy. Never could appreciate Metallica or anything else in their genre. I really liked Kix too. Anyone remember them?

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

This is cleaner and a better example of the fun side of the band with a definite 80's sound

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

I was in elementary school during the '80s and I didn't buy any hair band CDs until I was in college. Aerosmith is an exception because they made albums throughout the '80s and '90s. In my early high school years, I was a fan of bands like Nirvana and STP. Later, my friends and I discovered classic rock. Like no_vas, I'm a big fan of hair band music to this day and I have a Def Leppard hat and a M?tley Cr?e tank top leftover from my partying days. When I was in elementary school, I also had a lot of Whitesnake stuff, e.g., gaudy rings, because my stepfather built one of the bandmember's homes (I thought the stuff was weird at the time and I don't remember which bandmember it was).

I had my hair appt today and my stylist was a rocker in the '80's and we took a trip down memory lane this afternoon. I mentioned listenening to a couple of Kix songs this morning and then all the forgot about favorites from the era came up.

Jetboy

I'm not putting the youtube link because the sound is just awful, but here you can listen to a couple of clips

Don't mess with my hair

In the alley

Car sex

D'molls was another one of my faves

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

and then there was LA Guns. Good quality sound on this one, but Electric Gypsy was the best

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

and what about Faster Pussycat?

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

And then there was the amazing Hanoi Rocks. These guys were so different.... loved them!

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

These are the bands that we used to go see in the clubs in the city (SF), Berkeley and trips to LA (The Whiskey).

Pink FLoyd hands down. I walked to school everyday with The Wall playing in my head. I must still have a box full of PF cassette tapes somewhere. But this one also deserves an honorable mention: I had just bought my first CD player in the early 90s and was desperately looking for good stuff which was banned and extremely difficult to find in Iran back then (unlike today which is even easier than here due to internet and lack of copyright). Now one day, while searching the dungeon of a friend who had a music store and had "illegal stuff" smuggled for him every once a while, I found this CD with no cover, dusted and forgotten, lying in the bottom of a box. I asked my friend what it was and he didn't know, but he was sure it wasn't anything his regular costumers would want, so he gave it to me for free:

I went home, carefully cleaned it and dropped it into my player... and God said "Let there be light."

For some reason, I really don't remember any favorites during my teen years (?). I just remember KISS being my favorite during elementary and junior high. I think I was too busy studying and being a nerd speech and drama student. I knew every word to every KISS song and a few from Van Halen and Boston.

Man... you guys and your glam rock. Don't you know the cool kids were the ones who loved punk rock? Not only that, but it was in this time that we got to know bands like Sublime and No Doubt. Many of the bands of today are heavily influenced by the OC punk scene. While it seems to be shifting that bands are influenced by the not so great music of the 80s/90s, punk still rules.

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

OMG! I think I was at this show! I thought Gwen was so hawt back then.

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

BTW, Eric Keyes is best friend's with Gwen's brother Eric Stefani (He used to be in the band and write many of their songs). Eric Keyes was an animator for the Simpsons, and since he was friend's with my best friend's sister's best friend (Got that all? It really isn't as detached as it sounds.), that I had a crush on Gwen since the early 90s when she was just chilling with my best friend's sister and their friends in the room across the way.

Then there was the true OC punk scene with Agent Orange...

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Descendents...

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Guttermouth...

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Pennywise...

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Then there is the PhD boys, aka Bad Religion...

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

And last, but certainly not least... Fullerton's own Social Distortion. Thanks to them, I was introduced to Johnny Cash and his awesome voice.

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

I loved (and still do) all that were mentioned above.

My iPod is filled with 80's rock. :red:

Graph, this is my favorite Sublime song:

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Graphrix's iTunes library probably looks a lot like mine. I will go out on a limb and say "Saw Red" is probably the best punk duet ever. And I realize that I write this "punk duet" sounds kind of funny cause I doubt many more were ever done. Except maybe for "X" who is another great Southern California punk rock band.

EXCELLENT CHOICES! The punk scene was very much a part of my high school experience. Pennywise, Sublime and No Doubt were among my favorite bands in high school. I grew up going to Pennywise shows in the South Bay and was fortunate enough to go to a few Sublime shows, too. In college, I saw LB Dub Allstars play in Rosarito a few times. When one of my college bfs introduced me to Social D, it was over. I love, love, love me some Mike Ness and I cannot count on two hands the number of times I've seen them play, whether at House of Blues, Street Scene in SD, etc...

The Duran Duran show last night looked/sounded exactly like the video for "The Reflex" except no wave crashing over the crowd. Also, there was a sea of iPhones ruining my view. And everyone is 25 years older.

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

Also, Simon LeBon has not aged gracefully. Still......a good time!

Oh yeah, Graph's posted reminded me...............Devo and The Dead Kennedys, I guess I've just aged myself with this post.

Those guys are still my favorite band...I thought Simon was the pimp of all pimps, especially with the Rio video on MTV...my favorite music video of all time!!!

<object width="325" height="250"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/youtube" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="325" height="250"></embed></object>

A very, very close second in my favorite MTV videos was their Hungry Like a Wolf video...those guys could really put together some awesome videos.

Another one of my favorites was David Bowie.
