Greetings to all,

I just purchased a home in the Stonegate community of San Mateo.  I would like to upgrade to hardwood floors.  However, upgrading through the builder Irvine Pacific is WAY TOO expensive.  Not to mention, I keep hearing about the horrible customer service of the Irvine Pacific Design Center.  Can anyone please recommend a reputable contractor with the best prices?  Thank you for your time and assistance.

I used Tomkins Flooring in Irvine.  I worked with a guy there named Paul.  You can haggle with him to get the price down.  They did a very clean job on my floors.

Wow!  Thank you for the great knowledge and wealth of information.  It is a wonderful and reassuring feeling to know that I live in such a supportive and helpful Irvine Community.  I guess that's what sets us apart! I will look into some of the contractors that were mentioned.  Being a first time home owner is exciting and somewhat scary.  I just want to make the best informed decisions possible when choosing upgrades.  I look forward to making my house into a Home!  Thank you for your helpful referrals.  I greatly appreciate it.

I've used LA Carpet but your experience with them will vary with who installs it... they do have a lifetime warranty just in case.

Both places are good and have a nice selection at very reasonable prices.  I obtained my engineering wood from Simple Floors for my Quail Hill condo back in 2004.
