Who do we want for Mayor?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I'm kind of torn myself. All these political ads masquerading as newspapers touting Kang and the team are really nauseating by now, and I don't really know whether what they say about the other team is true. I did not get anything from the other team, so I'm not sure what their platform is at all. I guess I have to figure it out by tomorrow morning. My spouse is for the Kang team b/c he thinks the other team is for the Musick jail expansion, but I'm completely unsure.

I have to admit that I still find this story about Shea disturbing. There are lots of disturbing stories about Larry Agran, too, so I didn't vote for him either.

I was amazed at how shady Irvine politics is. Several years ago I read all the 'junk' mailed out and quickly realized that was a big waste of time.

I did find it helpful to watch some of the city council meetings. Anyone else watch those?

I'm not sure if the Irvine Tattler is slanted but there are some interesting reads there as well. The About page on that site mentions that the author resigned due to the issue that Eva's link is about.

After Agran returned to elective office in 1998, he appointed Stephen as an Executive Assistant. Stephen resigned the position in September 1999 to protest Agran's connection to a political "dirty trick" played on then-Mayor Christina Shea and her daughter.

In the years since then, Stephen has remained active in Irvine politics. He has served as an Executive Assistant to Ms. Shea in 2003 and as her Finance Commissioner in 2006. Stephen currently holds no city office and will not work on any candidate's 2008 campaign. His opinions are his own.

I am voting the Krom, Agran, Kang, Gallinger ticket.

I especially think that Kang will do a good job. He's been an incredible friend and leader for the Irvine schools.

Shea is not a good choice and is ethically challenged from time to time, as a lobbyist and in her sneak attacks against other members of the council. Choi is hotheaded. Those two are really not pleasant to watch in council meetings.

I think Gallinger will do better than choi. fwiw.

Perhaps watching the Mayoral debates would help. I found these links via the Tattler:

Well if Shea is that way from time to time, she is a better choice to serve than Larry Agran, who is ethically challenged all the time. That tool has done just about everything to get his buddies in on the Great Park, and they've returned the favor with funding his campaign. What do we have to show for it? That friggen awesome orange balloon!

But there are 2 one for each team. haha

After visiting that absolutely ridiculous Great Park for the first time at their Pumpkin Patch and seeing a smiling and smug Kang out there shaking hands and acting like that concrete *park* was something to be proud of --- I decided right then and there to vote against Kang and all his cronies. It was easy enough to vote against them --- since my mailbox was stuffed every single day with crap from Kang/Krom/Agran/Gallinger telling me what to vote on....I just took their recommendations and did exactly the opposite.
