My CD with BofA is going to mature, and I want to move my money to somewhere that have a higher yield. Any recommendation?

No, I will not invest in a communist country or tiger beers, because I don't want my money going to someone else bank account when they feel like it.

Thanks

My money market at Countrywide Bank is earning 4.05% APR. As long as you keep less than $100K there, you should be safe... They are offering a 12-month CD for 4.2%.

People help me out here....why would you guy recommend Countrywide's Money Market? That is worse than investing in Tiger Beer.

Tulip - only if you think the FDIC and by extension, the Federal government, is going to fail, is parking money in CW Bank a bad idea. Countrywide is being acquired by the largest bank in the country. Let's not forget that...

Countrywide Bank is FDIC insured. IMO, you will get your money back if you stay within FDIC insurance limits. They will print more money and deflate the dollar even further to do it, but your cash will be returned if Countrywide eats it. You think they would bail out Bear Stearns but not make depositors with Countrywide whole? Actually, I don't believe Countrywide will be or would be allowed to fail...

I've got almost $100K in my name there individually and will be opening up an account in my wife's name individually to handle another $99K. I have no fear that I will lose those funds.

Amen CalGal.

Nope jbatz. As of June 2007, BOFA was by far the king in terms of dollars on deposit, with Chase in 2nd:

I made sure to stay under the FDIC limit...

She smiled, and and said she completely understood my concern... then we had a brief discussion regarding the recent layoffs.

I feel fairly confident with the FDIC insurance after reading a few people's posts on the blog...

What are your thoughts on the FDIC insurance lendingmaestro???

[quote author="swkin" date=1207499649]Girl in OC,

Did you do the cd account online? how easy as it?? I also have a cd maturing in the Boa... Thanks

I did the CD in person... but, I will tell you that the CD I did before this one had a higher rate if you completed it online (with IndyMac Bank) I just pushed the issue when I went to the branch, and they gave me the higher internet rate.

I did complete an online CD last year with World Savings before they were purchased... and it went EXTREMELY well. I just filled everything out online, and dropped off a check at the branch.

Hope this helps!
