Maybe it's all the same no matter where you go, but curious if anyone had recommendation for a good experience/price in Irvine.

Hope rebranding this topic goes better than this:

we just bought ours last weekend on the lot near IVC (Jeffrey and Irvine Center drive).  They usually send out a $5 coupon to last year's customer (we did not bring our coupon but we just ask them and they gave us the $5 discount).  We buy our tree from this lot for the last 3 years or so and no bad experience so far.  I think there are more choices here compared to the other lots along Jeffrey ..

The last time I bought a real tree was at one of those lots, it was more expensive than at Home Depot or Ikea (the Ikea one was really cheap). We also had got one at Target but Target swapped Garden for Groceries.

But this was quite a few years ago, we have a pre-lit faux tree which is very convenient... you just need space to store it for 10-11 months out of the year (another pro for a 3CWG!).

Does Costco still sell real trees?

Costco does still sell real tress.  They'll be my first stop.

I think the last real tree I bought was also at Ikea, when they were in TMP.
(Ahh memories.)

I wonder if the Ikea in CM sells those really cheap trees.
(If so, do you have to put them together using incomprehensible instructions?)

So wife wants to buy one of those white trees.. real.  Any feedback on those?  Does it take away the smell?

STOP MAKING PEOPLE FEEL BAD.. IT'S THE HOLIDAYS.. SHEESH.

Do Costco/Ikea offer the "full service" like cutting an inch off the trunk, wrapping it with netting, tying it on top of your car etc ?  I never really inquired on these stores as I doubt they would help you do these things ...

we got one at costco. they are 7-8 ft.  they are wrapped with twine, not the netting. they will put it in your SUV or on top of your car/SUV. they didnt offer to cut an inch off of the trunk and i didnt ask. you pay at the register and take your receipt to the trucks in the parking lot. the trees are all wrapped so you dont really know what they will look like. tree was $45. after i removed the twine the tree was nice and full.

Not knowing what it looks like is a deal breaker for MrsGH.  I  think part of the fun is selecting of the tree :)  The last few years, it took her some time to select the "perfect" tree while my daughter was running around the tree lot.  It rained though last weekend when we arrived so she had to pick one quick (although the tree we got was pretty nice and full).

I grew up with real trees for Christmas but with hardwood floors and a 5 year...fake trees are fine.  Just hang up some pine scented air fresheners.

Home Depot. Best Bang for the buck for 10 years running...Bring a pocket knife to cut open bundles.

We do tree lot.  If you want a more of an experience, I've heard Peltzer Pines down in Silverado Canyon is fun.  You get to cut choose the tree and they cut it down in front of you.  I don't mind fake trees - my gripe is just the storage issue.  I really hate storing stuff so we do live tree, live wreath, etc.
