What's the best place to buy for $350-$400K?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I would say Aliso Viejo but I am biased.

There are a few pockets of Lake Forest that are nice for the money.

If you do not need attached garages, or garages in general, you may be able to find a small place in Woodbrige. Though Woodbridge is one of the oldest communities, it has held up pretty nicely comparing it to the Lakes

What are you looking for? I would immediately say anything by the beach not matter how small... but that might not fit your needs/wants/desires.

Any ideas on what you might want?

what 350 - 400 K would buy -

In Irvine - 1-2 bedroom condo - approx 1200 sqft

In Inland Empire/ Riverside - maybe 2500 sq ft - 4 bedroom/2bath

In Memphis, TN - 3000 sq ft SFR

In Iowa or someplace- a big bungalow

In Ney york - a 500 sq ft - guest portion of someones home

In bay area - a garage

In London - a bathroom - if you're lucky

Which do you prefer???

[quote author="24inIrvine" date=1216432303]also depends...350-400k now may be way different from what is 350-400k a year or two from now. Are you talking at prices now only?</blockquote>

Looking for a condo, in the Irvine area, or surrounding that is a safe area. I'm single and can work from home but love the convenience of Irvine. Weather is important, not into high heat. Attached garage. Don't know much about the area, especially the newer properties. Time frame would be a year from now, or later.
