what's in mello roo's?

Does anyone know what's in the mello Roo's these days? Why is it so high? For new homes being sold it's around $5000/yr, for 50+ years. Does anyone have any control over it?

Irvine Company has complete control over Mello Roos since they are the land developer in Irvine.

Really, 50+ years?  I thought it lasted only 30 years...!  I bought new in Woodbury and I'm pretty sure my Mello Roos expires in 30 years. 

7 years down, 23 to go...
