I always thought police officers' job was to serve and protect.
Who checks their email daily? I received an email from my neighbor (one that we've been having dispute with for over a year) yesterday asking for access and by that time it was past the time they needed entry. About 30 minutes later, my wife gets a call from the police who is standing outside of our home. The male officer tells my wife that my neighbor needs access to the easement and ask if my wife can let them in. My wife told them that it was no problem and that I just read my email and responded to them. I can't believe Irvine police comes out for such a thing. They told my wife that they'll need access the following day same time.
Got home late, I was not present, so my wife didn't feel safe at home alone with our child to give them access. She notified Irvine police and the dispatcher said it's no problem to send someone out for "keeping the peace". When the two officers arrived, the male officer told my wife that this is a one time deal. That they can't come out for calls like this. After the neighbors accessed the easement, the female officer proceed to tell my wife that this is a civil matter and they will not be coming out to assist her and was quite rude about it. If my wife wasn't alone, and wasn't feeling threaten, she wouldn't have called for protection!
It's fine when the neighbor DEMANDS access and calls the cops to get it. But it's not fine when my wife feels threatened and has the cops present to allow them access. I am disappointed that my tax dollars are going to such officers.
