What could be going on with my address in Columbus Square?

The other day as I came home from work I received a letter in the mail addressed to a different household with my address on it. It was an advertisement trying to sell the owner a copy of the grant deed for their newly purchased home. I thought, hm...a little strange, must be a typo and sent to the wrong address.

Today I search Zillow and Redfin, both sites list my exact address as recently sold for 646,000, Zestimate shot up to $500,000 because of this.

Was there a transfer of records done and this typo in the address was continued through? Or should I be expecting Mr and Mrs. so and so to be knocking on my door soon asking for the keys. :)

Umm, it's probably nothing. Maybe they put the wrong address on a deed?

If you can check your house by address or legal description on the internet, I would do so.

Not that you can lose your house or anything, but if there is a wild deed

encumbering your property, you should get it corrected now, not when and

if you decide to sell and then have to get it corrected.

If it's just an address, just make sure your tax bill will continue to come to

you and bask in the (illusory) new-found wealth.

Not if it happened after they bought. But they might do something just to

be nice.

Title insurance fixes stuff that happened before the effective date of the

policy.

Since it is a new home the new APN might not be updated in the system where that company got their marketing data from, or it may not be updated by the county yet. It sometimes takes a while for this to be corrected, and you might want to call your title insurer to look into it. Someone, the builder, title, or the county may have input the wrong new APN for your unit or your neighbor's unit. I bet that household lives in a unit on the lot that corresponds to the old/builder's APN.

What's an APN?

The equivalent of what I would call a tax folio number? Every property

in Fla gets one for tax purposes.

Or, what I would call a legal description--lot 1, Block 1 etc, or The SW quarter

of the NE quarter yadda yadda, section township range?

Assessors Parcel Number. Yes, it would be the same thing as a tax folio number, and it would have the numbers in it for legal description. You know... this is Cali, and we like to do things differently here.
