Is it just me or are they everywhere now?

Before... it was just Pho Bac Ky off of Barranca. This place was once related to the one in Tustin off of Red Hill and then another opened off of Michelson and Jeffery.

Supposedly they split up but their menus look exactly the same (the one off of Michelson is now called Photasia).

But now there are Vietnamese places in Diamond Jamboree (expected), Alton/Culver shopping plaza (where Claim Jumper used to be), Crossroads (Ha Long), Quail Hill (that was a surprise) and others I haven't named.

Even Pho Bac Ky has expanded and doubled their size this year.

When did pho become so popular? It's worse than the frozen yogurt craze of the late 80s.

I think the Pho 99 in Jeffrey/Walnut has been there a while... but yes... the one in Cypress Village is a new one too.

I'm not sure it's that cheap... I remember when the rice dishes used to be 5 or 6... now they are 6 or 7... or even 10 or 11 if you get the Shake Beef.

Pho bac on barranca & another on Jeffery & Michaelson is owned by different brothers from same family. There were some family dispute and they each went their own ways.

The pho place on Jeffery across from IVC has improved a little in recent years. The new one at Quail Hill is um...  Not recommended.

There are Vietnamese noodle restaurants everywhere across OC. If you want to try something more OG, go to Shun Fat market on Beach in Westminster and look across the parking lot for a hole in the wall place called Qa Hu Tieu. No menus, no AC, cash only. ;) Ask for large noodle, fried bread, and big bones with fatty meat from the stockpot.
