UC Irvine: Immigration made Southern California stronger

"The large influx of Asian and Latino immigrants into Southern California in the past 50 years is associated with less crime, lower joblessness and more stable property values, according to a study to be released next week by University of California, Irvine."

??? LATINO immigrants made Socal more safer and stable property prices? Are they nuts? I for one believe that crime and lower property prices are synonymous with the Latinos here in SoCal.

That UCI writer was hired to promote the affordable housing in Irvine hoping to ease fear between the Rich Chinese and poor hispanic neighbors.

Did Gustavo Arellano write that? I guess that was how Santa Ana became the 4th safest city in the nation with population over 250,000. ;)
 
The article was written by BRIAN MARTINEZ. I guess he would be a Latino based on his surname.  I hope he's not a gangbanger :- :P

If you think that there are no asian gangs/syndicates in Irvine, you need to wake up.  They may not be as easy to spot as cholos but they are out there.
 
going to school in the valley, there was a simple rule.  dont mess with the asian gangsters.  the black guys or hispanic guys will kick your ass and it will hurt but the asian guys will kill you, your friends, and still go after your family

i remember the pool hall shooting, the 3 car trapping of 1 car and full on execution style shootout, and a host of incidents while i was in high school.

yeah, but how often do you hear about Asian gang violence here in Irvine or in any other parts of Socal?

USCT is right, asian criminal activity is rampant in irvne - how do you think all the hookers IHS talks about end up here? The mexican drug cartels? Nope. you just dont see it, RKP is also right, asian gangs are more ruthless, asians have no heart, that is why they dont say hi to mexicans walking their dogs.  Mexicans and Blacks will hurt you physically cause they are bigger, asians are smaller and therefore have to take you out to ensure you dont come back after them.
 
there are asian mafias operating in irvine.  we are oblivious to this but trust me, they are here.

I am sure there are many Latinos in Socal who are as hard working as any Asian and successful.

I hear you.  I'm very sorry if I have offended you or anyone else.  That statement was written in haste.

Although the statement was written politically incorrectly, I'm sure my views are shared by many who are more careful with their choice of words here on TI.
