Transportation to LAX airport from OC area

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I always call my mate Misha and his Limo..$100 from Westpark to LAX...he stops at Starbucks for coffee..just tell him the Terminal and you're there ..he's a super nice guy.

Or..pay $50 for a shuttle and go via mission viejo, huntington beach and Fountain Valley and watch in dismay as they squeeze as many Passengers and Surfboards into the Van as possible...

I will be happy to give you Misha's # if you need it.

PeterUK has a great point about SuperShuttle. I have lucked out a few times, but once had to go to Seal Beach, Huntington Beach AND Fountain Valley at 10pm after getting off a 16 hour flight. This after standing on the curb for 30 minutes breathing foul exhaust fumes at LAX while my van kept looking for more passengers to cram in. Horror.

Pay the $100 - lots of Town Car services out there. I'm sure Misha is great.

If it is a short trip, there are a bunch of inexpensive parking options. I left my truck in a covered garage and paid $7/day last month. If that is an option, let me know and I will list the parking services I have used.

I'll throw out this suggestion which may be helpful depending on your circumstances...

Rent a car at SNA and drop it off at LAX (or vice versa). I am close enough to take a cab to/from John Wayne to my house or have my wife pick me up, etc. The last time I did this it cost me approx. $70 but I am almost certain you can get a better rate (the car rental co. will usually charge you extra to drop off in a different location).

This has worked well for me a couple of times as I saved the expense of parking my car at LAX for several days. And it's cheaper than the limo/towncar service and more convenient than the Super Shuttle route. Again, depends on your circumstances...

Thats what adult children are for. To haul my old butt to LAX so I dont leave my car at Wally World for more than a week. Otherwise the town car seems like a good idea. Super Shuttle only if your knowledge of Middle Eastern languages is above par.....

Good suggestions..but...

Sitting crammed in the back of a super Shuttle Van with 13 others feeling like a refugee during peak Flu season plus your Medical deductible and theraflu costs $175.

Calling a Cab, waiting in line for the rental Car..fighting the 405 whilst listening to Mariachi music because you cant figure out how to change the Radio Station $70.

Slouching in the back of a Limo whilst sipping Late' having 150,000 people wishing they were you as you cruise by in the Carpool lane..

Priceless.

renting a car is so much trouble...hire a car services is the way to go so you can relax...

I go to LAX from Irvine often, and I use a sedan svs who picks me up at my home, and greets me by the exit on the way home. It costs $150. They use black extended length sedans.

I use advantage shuttle to go from home to SNA, it is $51. I don't use shuttle svs after landing in SNA. I take the taxi, and it costs only $40, and I don't have to wait by the curb for them to come by.

supper shuttle fare of $48 is for "sharing a van"...which means you have to sit there going to other people's house most of the time. I don't like that and think it takes too long, and not safe - too many people know you are out of town...

The cheapest shuttle svs from Irvine to LAX is by calling a chinese car services company. They charge only $70 for early am pickup, and only 60 for mid day pickups. I never used them before, but talked to their operator. I might consider using them for my next family vacation trip leaving from lax.

If you want to save some money and you have lots of time and not a lot of luggage, you could take Metrolink to Union Station for about $8 and then the LAX fly Away bus

ABC123: if someone live in Irvine, and decides go to lax that route, he or she either shouldn't be taking the trip, or he / she is sickly cheap!

I'll be needing both limo and car service in the near future. Peter and 123, can you whisper the business names?

Anybody else with a good recommendation would be appreciated too.

Thank you for all your advices.

Irvine 123....I would love to fly out of SNA, but unfortunately they don't have a direct flight to where I am going, traveling with two kids???? There are no way I am making the connection flight.

Peter- $ 100 is that one way?

I guess I will stick with my cheap brother taxi- $ 50 RT transfer, using my car, using my gas ($50 to fill the tank, since gas is $ 3.50 at Costco), and a gift from the destination.

Irinve 123,

You are right, the only bad thing about using that kind of service in my hood....is they know you are on vacation and when you return your home is spanky clean, courtesy of the taxi driver.

I think I will either stick with my brother or use Peter's idea....but have them pick me up at my sister house instead of my home. The kids might get a kick out of a limo ride.

tulip,

i have two little ones, and I know all about traveling with them. Between my toddles, they have logged more than 65,000 miles during the last 3.5 years. Direct flights are the way to go. You don't want to stress yourself out before you even get to the airport, especially it is for a vacation. So pay the little extra and enjoy your trip.

Good luck!
