Decided to have lunch out of Irvine today and ended up here at Tony's.  Wish we have more of these mom & pops food places in Irvine.  Great deep dish stuffed crust.  Order ahead, takes about half hour if you wait.

I was full after one slice.  Uncomfortably sleepy food coma after two.  Crust was actually my favorite part.  Cheese is stuffed between the bottom crusts?  Have enough leftovers for two pack lunches for the rest of the week.

I didn't feel like driving to Placentia so you made me go to BJ's last night... 30 minute wait at 7pm... the place was packed. I thought we were still in bad economic times.

The good news is Miami tied it up with Chicago... and I think I was the only Heat fan in the place.

That's strange -- I was there (the one in the Marketplace, right? Or were you in Laguna Hills?) this past Saturday at peek lunch hour and was seated right away, hardly anyone there. I asked them: what gives? They didn't know. Of course, though, they were crazy-busy the week before when I was there on Mother's Day.

Weekend lunchtime is not usually busy... nights are usually crowded at the Marketplace one but this was a Wed so I was surprised by the wait.

So PS... how is the comparison between the two pizzas? I might drive up there this weekend.

I only tried BJs personal pans at happy hour, usually save room for their Jeremiah red.  I would say Tonys has better toppings and definetly better crust.  BJs hard to beat their happy hour prices.  And Jeremiah red will win me over every time.

i picked up a deep dish hamburger/pepperoni from Tony's on my way home from work.  Man that was some good pizza.  I had three slices and was stuffed. I think i have 3 or 4 meals left from the large pizza. Good call PS. My wife got the spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and chicken and said it was very good as well.

my bad - ill definitely call you on the next one!

FYI to anyone who wants to pick up a pizza for take out. When i placed my order they told me about 35-40 minutes. It took 50 minutes. So definitely call way ahead.

I used to eat this Tony's Stuffed Crust pizza when I was a little kid growing up in Yorba Linda... it's been around for 20+ years...

Seriously guys *try it*, it is very unique, I'm sure the calories are way out there but the taste is amazing - and that crust at the end, BJ's has nothing on it...

Feel like visiting my parents this weekend just to pick one up... yummmmm

Based on the recommendations in this thread we went to check out Tony's this past weekend.  Everybody loved it, wife and kids.  Keep the recommendations coming!

I thought it was kid friendly.  One of my kids along with our friends' kid ended up running around the table and annoyed the people sitting at the adjacent table but it was harmless.  I can see how it'd get packed though since there's maybe only 4-5 tables inside?  I'd recommend ordering ahead of time because the pizza takes approx. 45 minutes to cook.  It's hard to have kids sit still for that long.

What sizes do the pizzas come in?  They wouldn't happen to have a small or mini, would they?
