To Scotchgard or Not To Scotchgard

So my next question to TI folks is whether I should scotchgard (on my own, after the close of escrow) my carpet? The options coordinator says my carpet comes with some sort of protection already (Shaw brand). How do you guys protect your new/pristine carpet from Fido's accidents. My dog is PRETTTTY good about not having accidents...is it worth it to scotchgard or just get a bottle of the good stuff (nature's miracle i heard was good...) for when it happens.

Thanks!

Most carpets come with some built-in stain guard... so I'm not sure it's worth the time/effort/cost to Scotchguard it.

Nature's Miracle works well... and then having your carpet professionally cleaned occasionally will help. It's funny though, our old home had part carpet/part tile downstairs and we had to have it cleaned often (plus the kids were younger). Our current home only has carpet upstairs and my carpet cleaning company keeps calling me to have it cleaned but there hasn't been a need.

Definitely going to have majority non-carpet surface downstairs on our next home.

Makes sense. We have very little carpet downstairs...and i don't have any kids. I only have one 30lb dog. But he is a sneaky one... :D

Thanks!! I may just invest in the better spot-stain remover then...

Natures Miracle is very good. I have dogs for the past 5 years and fortunately have only had to use it about twice. Just soak up the urine first with some paper towels, then spray the area until soaked, let stand for about 5 minutes and then use the paper towels to soak up the excess. You cant even see the pee stain after that.

Don't buy the scotchguard.

Just pour cat litter and all the pee will absorb. If the stain remains, invest in the GLH Spray On Hair color that matches your carpet and success.

While added make sure the color of the drape matches the rug!
