Just tried a new Vietnamese restaurant @ Northpark Plaza (Culver & Irvine Blvd):

TK (Thuan Kieu) Noodle & Grill
3951 Irvine Blvdhttp://www.yelp.com/biz/thuan-kieu-noodle-and-grill-irvine
Open from 10am to 9pm 7 days a week.
Located near Chipotle.

They had their Grand Opening on Saturday 2/8/14.  They are part of a local chain with locations in Garden Grove and Westminster.

Menu appears authentic with a nice selection of rolls, broke rice dishes, pho, and vermicelli (bun) bowls. I also like their array of drinks including ice coffee, grass jelly drinks, and soda lemonade.

I tried their TK Pho mixed bowl with brisket, rare beef, and tendon. Soup was tasty and portions were decent for $6.30.  The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and quick. I will come back to try their other dishes.

Got some takeout:

Sausage spring roll

Kinda meh to me.  Really disappointed they only have pho for noodles, no hu tieu, no egg noodles.  Not surprised, as it's more Viet than Chinese.  Pho Bac is still the best in Irvine.  TK's broth is bland.  Sausage roll is also just mediocre, and they forgot to pack the stinky thick fish sauce goopy dipping sauce.  Rookie mistake.

Tried it again the other day, their grilled broken rice dishes are actually pretty good.  Normally not a fan of this kind of food due to my dislike of lemongrass, but it was mighty tasty.  Surprisingly my favorite was the side soup that comes with the grilled dishes.  Reminds me of a soup I use to eat when I was a child.  I'll try the dry rice noodles next with egg rolls.
