Three arrested in connection with Irvine package theft

Dec. 15, 2015 Updated 6:33 p.m.

Two men and an underage boy suspected of stealing a package delivered to an Irvine home were arrested Monday afternoon, police said.

Alejandro Juarez Morales, 25; Vincente Juarez, 25; and the male juvenile, all of Corona, were found with multiple stolen packages and a credit card inside the Ford Expedition during a traffic stop after the theft, said Farrah Emami, Irvine police spokeswoman.

?They were targeting packages that they thought had credit and debit cards inside,? Emami said.

A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier called police around 3 p.m. Monday to report seeing a theft outside a home on Tropea Aisle. The carrier gave a detailed description of the suspects and the red Expedition they fled in.

The Expedition was stopped by police a short time later and arrested on suspicion of theft, conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

An investigation to determine if the group is connected to other thefts is ongoing.

Juarez is being held in Orange County jail and expected to appear in court Wednesday. No court information was available for Morales or the boy.

Irvine police suggest residents have items delivered to the workplace or closest post office if they are not home during the day, have packages delivered to a trusted neighbor or friend or require a signature for delivery.
