Then and now...

One of my favorite comics is Pearls Before Swine and this one reminds me of a thread somewhere here on TI where qwerty talks about the wimpifying of today's kids (that was before he had one ):

i have yet to wimpify my daughter.  the other day i fell asleep on the couch when i was watching her, when i woke up she was at the dogs water bowl washing her hands.  i trusted her enough to be by herself

That's how it used to be ... Surprised we all survived to adulthood.

But back then parents had more kids ... 3 to 4 was typical.  If I had 3 to 4 kids I'd quit sweating the little stuff too.  Heck Baby ZL was eating dirt from the yard yesterday AND today. That would never have happened with the first ZL when she was a baby. I pretty much tell the baby she needs to be careful and watch out for herself.  I can't be in 2 places at once.  So far so good.

If people had more kids ... Parenting will revert back to the good old days.

I try to treat my kids more like the old days. My wife did relax a lot more once we had more than one.
