<p>Although this is not Irvine, I thought it would be interesting to get some input from this board on this house. I was inspired by IR's post today.</p>

Haha. Imagine the conversation between the buyer and his friends.





B: "Well, we've moved into the new place. . ."


F: "It was expensive right?"


B: "Over 2 mil. . "


F" "And you guys bought in, what? Newport? Corona Del Mar?"


B: "Uh. . . no, a little more inland."


F: "Oh, right on. . . what, like Irvine?"


B: "Ummm Garden GROVE AND DON'T YOU KNOCK IT!"





This will be one of those houses where like so many generations live there that the people won't really know how they're all related.





Oh, and by the way, I like the fresco upstairs. Nothing like Garden Grove where some of the finest frescos can be found.
 
Personally, I would never desire to buy a million dollar home in Garden Grove. But come on folks, I am well aware that there are lavish homes in all cities - including Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, etc. Thus, this listing doesn't surprise me at all. I bet there are people living in million dollar homes in Santa Ana looking down on Irvine residents living in tiny condos.
 
I can totally envision some Tony Montana wannabe dropping all his cash on this place. It has drug dealer written all over it.
 
judging by the overhead map, it looks to be a pretty nice neighborhood. i see lots of large lots, plenty of swimming pools and tennis courts. just goes to show that people shouldnt be too closed minded about having to living in any particular neighborhood or city.


one day in our lunchroom a coworker mentioned some garden grove. i said, "oh you mean<strong> garbage grove</strong>?" my normally stoic boss sitting at the same table lowered his newspaper and said, "hey i grew up there! my parents still live there." oops.
 
Looks like it's closest to <a href="http://data1.cde.ca.gov/dataquest/AcntRpt2007/2006BaseSch.aspx?cYear=2006-07&allcds=30665223032752">Garden Grove High</a>.





Also right near Stanton...I recommend the owners not take too many drives that way.
 
<p>I vote for that home in Orange Park Acres by the cemetary near Jamboree and Newport.</p>

There are a few nice neighborhoods in Garden Grove, but you wouldn't know it driving down Chapman. I think I'll have to drive by that one...it's not too far from where I reside in Anaheim.
 
That home was built in 2006, which means the owner probably had an older house on 1/2 acre lot torn down, then built a new one on top.





This kind of project can be very profitable, assuming that you can find a buyer.
 
It is really interesting to find huge nice houses in cities you would never think of having such nice houses. Like we saw some $2 million new houses in Chino Hills and Riverside that are in an area that reminded us of typically rich areas like Pasadena or Arcadia with the big lots and next to open space. I wouldn't pay that much to live in Chino Hills or Garden Grove but it is interesting to find these hidden pockets of real estate excess in unexpected areas.
 
<p>Nude, my first thought when I saw the inside was "I've seen that house before - in Scarface!"</p>

<p>That painting in the dining room is probably the best part of the whole listing...</p>

you guys are putting up some beautiful masterpieces here. I didn't start this post to look for the most beautiful house in the OC. This house is smack in the middle of homes that should be worth 300K. The owner bought the land and built an ugly, showy home just for show. I mean C'mon who is going to buy a $700K home in Garden Grove, let alone one for 3 times that.
