I've been wanting to try Bruxies but this place is closer.
It's more like a beer pub place that serves waffle sandwiches (and just recently added Paninis).

This place is located in the SOHO center off of Hyland and the 405. It originally was a furniture alley but has added Anti-Mall/Lab type places ("hipster?").
As I said, it's really more like a bar since most of the seating was bar type... there were only 2 or 3 tables (and 2 were outside). Not a place for large parties of people.
We had the Fried Chicken Waffle sandwich:
(picture from Yelp)
We also had the garlic/parmesan tossed tater tots and the turkey club.
The kids had regular tater tots and a Belgian waffle with strawberries/bananas and Nutella.
It takes a while to get your food, but it was actually pretty good. The Mrs. was skeptical about it, but after trying it, was actually impressed by the flavor. Since I can't find Chicken&Waffled Lays chips... my sandwich had to suffice. It was fried chicken with coleslaw in between two waffle slices. They give you jalapeno maple syrup but after trying it, I went with the standard maple syrup. It was really good and the experience with a waffle with chicken inside is something you have to try for yourself... sweet, crispy, savory all in one.
The turkey club was also good (again with maple syrup) and the garlic/parmesan tater tots were a nice compliment. They also have waffle fries and an array of dipping sauces.
Sandwiches were $8 each and tots/fries run in the $3.50 range. Sodas were $2.50 which is kind of high but it is a bar.
This place is probably for a younger crowd but we liked it and walked over to the OC Mart Mix, a indoor shopping area and had some coffee and gelato.
We will probably try Bruxies now that the boss is more open to it.
