I really like watching the Food Network.

The only problem (like my wife points out), is that you can't really tell if the food taste good or not... you just have to trust the people eating it on the show. Unlike Design Star or Project Runway, you can form your own opinion if something looks good or not... but you can't even smell the food much less eat it.

Regardless... I watch anyways. I used to like Iron Chef but find the format of Chopped much more interesting. My other favorite shows revolve around comfort food... Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and... The Great Food Truck Race.

Something about greasy food on wheels always appeals to me.

This season is interesting because it's basically "rookies", people who have never owned/operated a food truck, competing to not only win the $50k, but also their own food truck (the show provided each of the 8 teams with a food truck based on their team names, logos and food).

Once again, the Korean food team is winning (like in seasons 1 and 2) and unless they get caught for cheating like Korilla did last season... they may take it all. I'm only on episode 3 (there have been 5 so far) but it does seem like the Seoul Sausage truck (interestingly enough... they haven't served sausage yet) has the right combination of food novelty, speed of preparation, simple menu items and charisma to at least make it to the finals.

Does anyone else watch this show?

Haven't had the chance. The Irvine area's got a great number of food truck hangouts. Tried many of them?

Monday?
Tuesday - Laguna Canyon Road by Discovery and Sand Canyon
Wednesday - across from Living Spaces near Alton
Thursday - Usually over by Michelson
Friday - Barranca/Von Karman
Saturday/Sunday - Great Park

I've tried Lime Truck, Tamarindo (favorite) TJsBrick Oven Pizza (yes, a wood fired pizza oven in a truck) Bacon Mania, Burnt Truck, OC Burgermonster, Slapfish (another good one) The Bakery Truck (best cream puffs ever), Chomp Chomp, The Garbage Truck, Barcelona on the Go, Seabirds (vegetarian), Dos Chinos, Spudrunner, and SexyBurger.

Any of these on this season? I know Lime Truck was on a past season of GFTR.

Why watch TV when you can grab some good eats!

Woooh... Seoul Sausage almost got eliminated this week.

Down to the final 3.

I think the Truck Stop bonuses are too big... they are basically a guaranteed win.

This season is interesting because it makes you think that you don't even have to be a good chef, you just need a good food idea and good marketing and you can be alright (being part of The Great Food Truck Race with cameras following you seems to help to :) )

Yeah, I am an addict to food TV network also. I like watching all the of the food programs you mentioned. Also I like the extreme chef, chef Viet look to be the one will take the prize.

All this cooking got  me hungry so I guess I have to go find a frozen dinner in the freezer....Can you imagine that, watching all of the exotic foods and I end up eating garbage. Well, I guess if I only have a little bit more time to spare.....

Continue watching the food....TV

There's a Korean concert at Verizon Amphitheater on 10/13.  Seoul Sausage supposedly will be there.

Spoiler Alert!

So Seoul did win... nice.

They were even behind by $500 and 3 hours of selling.

It's interesting that Asian food trucks have done well on this show (last season Korilla was winning until they cheated).

So I just finished watching Season 4... and in another life... I would want to run a food truck.

It seems like Asian-inspired trucks have an upper-hand because many foodies like Asian food and Asians can create a mob quickly (for reference, check out any new home grand opening).

I finally got to try The Burnt Truck (www.theburnttruck.com) by accident as they were at some event that was near where I happen to be. Great food and simple menu... Irvine locals too.

What would my concept be? Waffle sliders... and/or something with Spam. Heh.
