Looking for someone to install some surround sound speakers.  Any recommendations?  What is the general cost to install 5 in wall speakers (2 front, 1 center, 2 ceiling in rear)?

Also interested in finding someone. I need wiring to the back surrounds (side walls, not ceiling). in a new house in Jasmine Cypress Village.

Called a couple people last week but didn't find anyone I was excited about. One guy said to go through the wall you have to cut a hole in the wall every few inches which would require patching up after. Another guy said he could go through the baseboard. Not sure if that would limit the size of the cable though, I want to do at least 12 gauge.

yeah my buddy told me there would be holes for sure.  I just want to know how many we actually have to do.

I would assume they'd have to drill a hole in the wall for every 2x4 so they could drill a hole in the 2x4. Was also thinking of put in ceiling wiring/speakers for Atmos but I think I'll wait on that.

You didn't go with the pre-wiring?

Not an option for Lennar homes.. i would have gladly paid for it.

Total amateur hour.

Any competent installer will run wires to the ceiling, using a fish tape, not holes "every few inches", then back down to their destination.

When we replaced the stock carpet to woodfloor before moving in, we asked our woodfloor contractor to place the speaker wires (for surround sound) under the baseboard.  They did a nice job.

Wireless is another option but after some research, we didn't consider the option.

let me know if you find a good person.

Not sure if you found someone yet, but am happy with All-Star Home Theater's work. Here's some pics:

@subsolar:  Thanks for the pics!  That looks vaguely familiar...are you in a Saratoga?

Also, how much did the speaker set-up cost?

Nope, Jasmine. I think the in-ceiling speakers were $500 something each and there's 6. Labor I think was around $1,000 for the ceiling installation.

Did you have the speaker pre-installation from the builder?

No, was a quick move-in. They probably would have put them in the wrong locations anyway though. I'm using the ceiling speakers for Atmos overheads, my 7.1 speakers are on the ground.

We had them pre-wired so the speaker locations seem right.  Thanks for the info.

Hey  SubSolar where did you get your couch?  It looks comfy.

Thanks, it is comfy, a lot of people fall asleep on it. Always wanted a deep couch and finally got one. It's a custom couch from here:http://www.yelp.com/biz/furniture-outlet-fountain-valley?osq=oc+furniture

We chose the color, color of legs, length, height, depth, number of cushions, etc. It's microfiber. Was built in Los Angeles and only took about 3 weeks. It's pretty big, 10x13' and cost $2,200. Paid $100 for a 5 year warranty covers any spills, rips, etc.

Only regret is I should have made the arms shorter so that it doesn't block my left speaker but oh well.
