Stimulus to Dead People

I still have issues over the Stimulus since I did not qualify. They are giving it to dead people?? If you died 07 or 08 you get it. Can someone tell me how that will stimulate the economy??? Why would you pay somone who can't even complain they did not get it??

Maybe they did it for simplicity's sake because in some instances (single parent with minor children, etc.) you would want the money to be paid out and there is probably a considerable lag before the federal government detects someone as dead through their various data source feeds (for 2008 deaths in particular). Still an interesting question. I'd love to know how much money we are talking about in total.
