Hello everyone,

First time writing here. I thoroughly enjoy all your inputs. This might be irrelevant, but I wanted your expert opinion on this topic. I was told recently that S. Korea will join the US visa waiver program starting in July 2008. (The Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa.) My wife's family is from Hawaii, and I hear frequently from her relatives that rich Japanese investors are buying up real estates in Hawaii and they are partially responsible for creating the unaffordable market. I understand that Irvine is a popular destination for Koreans. I'm wondering how this would affect the housing market in Irvine next year. I would greatly appreciate your inputs~

I personally lived over in Korea for almost a decade and have seen the trends and also still own property over there. I expect there to be a influx of Koreans immigrating and staying either legally or illegally for there children's educations. Most of the eduction placements centers in Korea focus Irvine as a great education mecca, thus many of them send their children and there wifes to Irvine. Most of the while the father stays in Korea by himself and slaves away to support the living cost of the O.C. Even though they come I don't think this will impact it to greatly, most of them will still rent rather than purchase in a declining market. Koreans are very savvy to the world trends, and I'm sure they will follow the advice of Irvinerenter.
