Hi gurus,

until now I was a quiet admirer of IrvineRenter and a big time fan of IHB.

I am thinking of renting one of the 2 bed 2 bath in Sonoma apartment homes. Anybody has any good or bad information about this community? I searched all posts but could not find anything about this.

Details: 2bed/2 bath rent about $1700. There are 5 single car garages beneath the apt. No one above or below.

Thanks in advance.

I have visited Sonoma and I like it. I don't have any experience living there, though.

There is one place you can go to hear all the negative things about any apartment community (i say that because this website tends to attract people with an axe to grind). But wander on over to apartmentratings.com and see what some tenants have to say. http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CA-Irvine-Sonoma-at-Oak-Creek.htmlJust remember, the website tends to skew negative no matter the community.

Of all the similarly priced apartments in Irvine, is there something particular that made you lean toward Sonoma?

This community has W/D inside the home and one detached garage which very few rental communities in this range have. It looks clean and newer than other communities. I am looking only on Jeffery or near Culver.

That is a nice complex. I live at Quail Meadows...take a look at that one as well, you may like it too.

USC,

I did like Quail Meadows too. But my son is in Uni High and takes bus on the way back. Jeffery and Culver are good locations from that point of view.

Gotcha, then it makes sense that you are looking around Jeffery/Culver. One of the reasons I bought a condo in QH years ago and now rent there is because it's off away from the congestion of Irvine, but very close at the same time. Good luck on your search.

there is a nice bicycle path that runs from culver/university right to QH. brand new. 20 minutes on the bike. good health for the kid.

Sonoma is actually an older complex built in the mid 90's. It was developed along with Brittany near the 405 when IAC did not know about density. Therefore, it is mostly 2 story. The newer IAC complexes are in the 28-31 units per acre at 3 story walk up type. Sonoma is at 22 units per acre. Back then land economic allowed such a solution. It is considered very archaic for today's standard. In term of lifestyle you have fewer neighbors, shared walls, ceiling and floors. Carriage units over multiple garages are usually noisy so beware. It is at excellent location to meet all your needs.
