We've been waiting for this place to open and was surprised to find out it's been open since May:
Snoflakez
4255 Campus Dr
Irvine, CA 92612

Yelp:http://www.yelp.com/biz/snoflakez-irvine
From Yelp:
So this is basically like a frozen yogurt place but instead of yogurt they use flavored shaved ice (water, condensed milk). The shaved ice is really good... fluffy and milky... it really does look like ribbons. We tried the strawberry, mango and original flavors.
It comes with one topping and any drizzle (chocolate, caramel, strawberry or condensed milk) and you can add 3 additional toppings for $1 more.
The small is actually quite a lot and they have a wide variety of toppings (like Pinkberry, they put them on for you so at least it's somewhat public germ protected).
We were thinking about a concept like this so I'm glad someone did it. I'm not sure how much business they will pull with 2 other froyos nearby (Yogurtland and Golden Spoon) but hopefully they will stick around.
We were going to go to Strickland's too, but got full here so we'll try that some other time.
