I would like your inputs on the pros and cons of buying a single storey house. will there be a disadvantage if you plan to sell in the future?
 
Right. But, what about when it exists? I am looking to buy a single level home in GP and upgrade to a larger home in the future (3-5 yrs). I am thinking more in terms of the resale possibility when I am ready for the upgrade.
 
It can have a good resale due to the limited numbers of single level homes available.  I think for most young families, however, prefer two stories.  Everyone gets old though.. so the value can be very good in a nice community.

If all the homes in an area are single level then that probably means the area is low value.  GP is fine since the single level plan is an exception not the norm.  If the lot size is larger than the 2 story homes then that's even better.

On a price per SF basis, single story homes sell for a premium to two-story homes.  The next home that I buy will be a single story home.
