Orange County sheriff?s officials are searching for an inmate who escaped from an Irvine detention center.
Deputies said inmate Max Edward Fernandez, 27, was discovered missing Friday during a security check at the James A. Musick Facility, an Irvine honor farm for low-threat offenders. He apparently disappeared about 4 p.m.
Fernandez was in custody for possession of stolen property and a narcotic violation, officials said. He also has a criminal history of burglary, theft, narcotics violations, auto theft and resisting arrest, they said.
He is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches, about 170 pounds with tattoos on his upper right arm and back. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and red shorts beneath gray sweat pants, according to officials.
Authorities said Fernandez may have injured or cut himself during his escape.
