Hello!

We are moving from LA to OC and have been looking for a 4+BR SFR up to 1.2 mil. The areas we have looked into and liked so far include:

- Woodbridge

- Westpark

- Oak Creek

- Woodbury

- Turtle Ridge

- Newport Coast

As you can see, this is quite a divers list, since each neighborhood has something we like and we have decided that the house itself be the tie-breaker, as we are somewhat picky, looking for our dream house to stay there for next 10-20 years, possibly till death do us apart.

We are immigrants, new to the US education system, so you will forgive our lack of basic knowledge here (I'm trying to educate myself as much as possible between seeing patients and hoping not to screw up anyone and land a lawsuit). Anyways, I have checked the Education Department reports and it seems to me that IUSD fairs better compared with Newport-Mesa Unified in terms of numbers, but I am not sure how much real-world validity exists in API and other indexes like that. So our question to those kind souls willing to help us out is: if school quality were our #1 priority (we have toddlers, so it's elementary school for a few years to come), which one of these neighborhoods (or school districts) would you recommend?

Thanks!

You should head over to the Schools forum under "Lifestyles" and check out a wealth of information in that area. There are a lot of people here willing to help with info from IUSD and I'm sure they will respond.

Hi, Mazy. Welcome to the forums. You may find it helpful to visit the School section as there will be some threads that pertain to some of your questions. It is there that you will also find school locaters at the top of the board to quickly identify which schools your children would attend living in any given potential new home.

There may be some kindergarden tours scheduled soon for various elementary schools - call a few and find out, nothing like going to the school yourself to figure out what it's like.
