I didn't think the leaks were true but when Sammy decided to ditch the plastics to look more "premium", the new S6 looked very... uh... iPhony:

Most of the critics agree that it's the nicest Galaxy ever (the S6 Edge is even nicer with the curved glass and dual side displays) but at the cost of no removable battery, no SD card and no longer waterproof (3 features which I thought made the S5 superior to the iPhone).

I don't think the "premium" design was worth losing the above mentioned features (which also set Sammy phones apart from even other Android phones) but I guess they think it is. This also means they have to create 3 different price levels for the 32/64/128gb models which will just make the consumer more irritated because Sammy is no Apple.

They should have just stuck with the plastics... to me it makes it more durable, lighter and flexible (and allows for removable battery and SD card... although you could probably at least do the SD card with a metal/glass design). I think this really hurts Sammy in the secondary market. In some of the reviews, the thought process is that their phones will be worth more used but I don't agree. Sammy doesn't have the fan base that Apple has and I actually think the inability to replace the battery and increase the memory will make them worth less. At least with the previous S phones, after 2 years you can make it brand "newish" by replacing the battery... and as memory costs went down, you can give it more memory... not any more.

At least they've taken a lighter approach with skinning Android 5.0 with Touchwiz but I honestly don't think this is going to increase sales like Sammy thinks it will.

Hopefully they don't adopt this design cue for the Note series... but they usually do which will be a very bad move.

Edge looks nice, organic feel to it?  Hmmmm lots of decisions come September when I chuck my Fire phone thru the window.

I like the changes, just wish the screen was bigger. I'll be getting once next month. I've had an S3, S4 and Note 3. Currently have an LG G3.

At first I thought the removable batteries were great and bought several spares for my first phones. But realized that if you keep removing the back of the phone to access the battery it starts getting loose and creaking. I just use a portable charger now for the rare cases where I won't be next to a wall outlet for a long time.

I also have an SD card now but it's not nearly as useful as before since Google changed what can and can't be saved onto non-internal storage in one of the last Android updates. Just get a 64 or 128 gig and call it a day.

So I do think it's worth it to get rid of those two options in order to get the solid feel of an iPhone. It's like the style, design and feel of an iPhone but with the power and customization of Android.

Finally saw one of these in person and I have to say it's a really nicely engineered phone... but very Apple-ish... a blatant rip-off of the iPhone 6.

While selling well, it's not selling as well as Samsung hoped:

I still like the waterproof aspect of the previous S5 and although they now have an S6 Active which is waterproof, it's not as nice as the S5.

I wonder what they are going to do with the S7.

Looks like Sammy is going to cut prices on their S6 line and is even releasing an S6 Edge Plus.

History and sales numbers shows that no one company can compete with Apple... it's not even close.
