I am seeking a good attorney to help me with my defense against my ex's desire for more money....

Any suggestions...................

P.S. I refuse to pay more than $200.00 per hour for an attorney.

Nano,

Is there any way you can work things with your ex so you don't use a lawyer. Generally, from my own personal experiences, Lawyers are bad news and they will try to milk you for whatever they can take and prolong the process. I am no expert when it comes to divorce, but i do recommend that you try your best to work things out with your spouse on how to split the money without giving a big chuck of it to the lawyer. It can potentially get really ugly.

I am really sorry to hear your situation. Panda will be praying for you.

Panda.

I'm not a huge fan of lawyer fees (no offense to the lawyers out there), but I will say that you get what you pay for.

You might not like the bill now, but I think a good attorney will pay off in the long run.

Good luck, Nano. I'm sure this can be a rough road.

Yup, what CalGal said.

I think at $200/hr, you will have a difficult time finding a good one.

If you are interested, I know a good one who specializes in techy people with stock option stuff and small bus people. she fancies herself a forensic accountant, i think, as much as a divorce lawyer. no nonsense, no drama, prefers to settle fair and fast.

PM me if you need her info. (iirc, her rate is $3-400, but she seems to not bill every second as some might)

I would tell you to PM someone here, but he started sending me bills per PM, and the longer the PM the bigger the bill. J/K. Anyway there are two people here that might know some people that could help you. Let me know and I will PM you who they are, if you haven't figured out who they are already.

Tell me she isn't trying to steal TugTub from you ?!

Panda, that comment shows some naivete on your part. He needs a good lawyer.

I know where he?s coming from.

Personally, I don?t have a problem with a good attorney having a high hourly rate or charging a flat fee.

All of the ones I deal with not only charge a high hourly rate but require a hefty retainer upfront.

Sometimes I feel as though I?m not getting my money?s worth.

Nano, I feel for ya my friend and this is just one more reason I love being SINGLE :)

Hope you friend a very good lawyer who will rep you well and not grind you.

Thanks for the imput, I will PM a few of you in a day or two........................when we got our original dissolution, I started with an attorney that was charging 350 per hour and then raised rates to 450 per hour........and she was pathetic. On two occasions documents were not file correctly and I lost ground. I ended up with a guy from CL that charged about 200 per hour. He did a good job.

I've paid attorney's $650 per hour and thought it was worth every penny. What I find is that most of the divorce attorney's hate their jobs/lives and only work for money and get no satisfaction from what they do.

Trooper, no she will not get a shot at tugtub, she already has a fair amount of my last venture pacificnanotech.com
