Never been to one of these but I suspect it is similar to time share presentations. They are looking to make a sale. If they are smart, they would serve dinner at the end of the presentation.

There is nothing called a "free dinner" - there is ALWAYS a catch. Attend at your discretion...

I went to one of these before.  Got a nice update on the economy and wealth planning.  Then left afterwards.  There wasn't anyone stopping you from leaving or trying to talk to you when the pitch was done.
