We are planning to sell our house and buy a new house at Stonegate in Irvine. Our house will probably sell for around $800K and the new house will be around $1M. If we use the same realtor for selling and buying, what would be a fair commission % for the two transactions? Does anyone know how much broker fee the Stonegate builders are offering to agents? Maricopa and Mendocino are the closest type of home we are looking for. Thanks.

I have a simular story. My broker and I agreed on 2.5 points for the sell of my house and 1.5 points returned to me after buying the new house (also in stonegate)

Thanks JasonTheArtist. For the sale of your old house, was it 2.5% just for the seller agent commission or 2.5% for both buyer agent and seller agent? Also, do you know what Stonegate offers to brokers? Is it a % or a flat fee? Thanks.

The 2.5% (points) that JasonTheArtist is referring to is only the listing agent side of the commission.  There would most likely be a commission of 2.5% for the buyer's agent.  All the homes that Irvine Pacific sell offer a flat fee broker co-op ranging from $10k to $20k.
