Real Estate owner Donald Bren ranked as O.C.'s richest man; where other O.C. billionaires rank

Donald Bren is still Orange County?s wealthiest man and owner of the nation?s largest personal real estate empire.
The annual Forbes 400 ranking of America?s grandest fortunes pegged the net worth of the 83-year-old resident of Newport Beach, owner of real estate giant Irvine Co., at $15.2 billion. That ranked him 30th among the nation?s richest people, up from 31st in 2014.
Bren?s fortune dwarfs all others in real estate nationwide and from all sources in Orange County. Forbes estimated the second largest personal property wealth was of New York developer Stephen Ross at $6.7 billion.
Locally, Kingston ? the electronic memory maker from Fountain Valley ? created the Orange County fortunes next largest to Bren.
The wealth of company co-founders David Sun, 63, of Irvine and John Tu, 74 of Rolling Hills, were each estimated at $4.2 billion, ranking each man in a tie for 133rd wealthiest American, down from 104 in 2014.
Jim Jannard has created his wealth with two Orange County-based endeavors: Oakley sunglasses then Red cameras. The fortune of Jannard, 66, of San Juan Island, Wash., was estimated at $4 billion, ranking him 138th this year vs. 190 in 2014.
The Olenicoff commercial real estate empire, based in Newport Beach, made Igor Olenicoff, 73, of Lighthouse Point, Fla. America?s 164th wealthiest person, up from 167 a year ago. His fortune is estimated at $3.6 billion.
Henry Samueli, 61, of Newport Beach, a co-founder of Broadcom, had his fortune estimated at $2.6 billion, ranking him 256th this year vs. 284 in 2014.
The wealth of real estate and stock investor George Argyros, 78, of Newport Beach, was estimated at $2 billion, ranking him 342nd this year vs. 302 in 2014.
Bond trader Bill Gross, 71, of Laguna Beach, was reported to have an estimated $2 billion, also ranking him 342nd this year, vs. 272 in 2014. Gross left the investment powerhouse he founded, Pimco, a year ago in a managerial dispute.
Broadcom also built the fortune of Henry Nicholas, 55, of Newport Coast. His $1.9 billion net worth ranked him 358 this year vs. 383 in 2014.
