Real estate lawyer?

We were told that in irvine (or California) people don't hire a lawyer when buying or selling a house.  Is this true?
We are from east coast and we always hire a lawyer for even a simple transaction.

If I was buying a $3M+ house, I'd consider a lawyer.  Otherwise, licensed real estate agents can handle everything.

I'd recommend finding an attorney who also holds an active and valid California Real Estate License, not just an ordinary attorney. Once an attorney gets involved who does not have current experience in real estate, escrow will often get scribbled re-writes to the contract, or objections to the title policy so that billable hours might be increased. None of the re-writes are taken seriously and more often than not put your purchase in peril. No one has time or patience for this kind of nonsense. Seen it all too often, so fair warned is fair armed.

Anyone know a good real estate lawyer that handles issues against builders?

Did you try talking nicely? Also, you were cooperative to schedule a potential meeting? I find trying to a solution is the best way.

Oh, you'll be getting some class action mailers from a law office within a couple years...happens every time.
