Steamed dungeness crab for about $12 a crab.. can't beat that.. cheaper if its on sale. Make sure you have some boxes in your trunk.. leaky crab water is no fun. We usually get a couple rock crabs as well, meat is sweeter and more flaky then dungeness. Plus its fun to pull the crab out of the self service tank.. reminds me of childhood. Here are the steps:
1) pick and bag your rock crabs first and take it to the service counter and tell the guy you want it steamed.
2) tell him you also want a dungeness crab and follow him back to the tanks. make sure to make him show you the crab (i once got one without the meaty front pincers)
3) follow him back to the weigh scale and go to the front register to pay first.
4) go back to the counter and hand them ur receipt, make sure to take the claim tickets.
5) go pick up some supplies/groceries around the store as it takes about 15 minutes for the steaming
6) pick up your finished crabs and proceed to checkout, make sure not to tip the box they put it in, as juices will leak out.
7) go home and enjoy, remember that ur trash will stink in two days so plan your crab fest accordingly (trash day for us is Monday, so crab fest day is usually the weekends)
