Trying to do the Apple thing.. 2/20/13 the next Playstation 4...

Rumor of a non-optical drive machine.. all online/cloud based... so no more discs to buy... I'm gonna go old school.. I prefer the discs.. It's annoying when I turn on my PS3 and have to wait for it to download the latest update (though Playstation+ sort of makes it bearable with auto download)... I wanna play when I wanna play, not wait for downloads.. I sometimes turn off wifi just so I won't get interrupted..

I find it strange for them to go non-disc because there are still many people who don't have high-speed Internet (AOL still makes $500 million in dial-up access per year).

Sony is trying to beat MSoft since they are rumored to be showing their next XBOX (720?) at E3. The rumor stink on them is although it will be disc-based, it will require online authorization which some believe will prevent used games from being played.... Gamestop had some things to say about that.

As for cloud/online content downloads, I guess we can see how OUYA does.

Doh!  Just upgraded my PS3 hard drive to a 1 TB WD.. maybe I should've waited.. Also just subscribed to Playstation + for the first time (hence the hard drive upgrade).  Well, initial release games are usually not that great.. should be a fun Xmas for gamers.

Maybe they will release Grand Theft Auto V for the PS4...they were supposed to release the game this Spring but pushed it back until Sept. now.

Never much a fan of the GTA series... not disciplined enough to finish.. my ADD takes over during missions and I end up blowing up half the city and getting killed/arrested.. rinse and repeat.. I never get anywhere..

So the PS4 is $399 vs. the XBox One (horrible name) for $499.

But... the XBO includes Kinect 2 whereas the PS4 charges $59 for the PSEye camera... plus the K2 is way better than the PSE.

And... the PS4 plays used games "easier" than the XBO.

I probably won't get either, not a gamer and we mostly use our PS3 as a Netflix streamer... heh.

I'm leaning towards PS4... Playstation Plus membership is better than Xbox Live Gold.. Don't have as much time for gaming, might hold off till the 1st gen crap games are replaced by sophomore games.

I just got my Ouya.  Very fun $100 toy.  On the up side, it's inexpensive and have a growing list of games for download, offering free play and you pay for premium content (or full version of game).  On the down side, you should not expect the same level of performance vs. $500 XBOX.

Extra game controllers are kinda expensive at $50/each, but many games allow you to use your existing XBOX or PS3 controller via USB port.  Downloads can be a little slow right now due to the large numbers of people accessing it.  My biggest complaint is that my unit did not ship with the latest firmware, so I had to wait for a lengthy firmware update.

There's a certain "start-up" feel to Ouya and its games.  Less professionalism, more fun.

When I think about video games, only Gran Turismo really interests me.  And when I say Gran Turismo, it's usually the license segments.  I like trying to better my results through the short segments.
