I'm familiar with those banks just as you are familiar with United Bank of BlackVault!

I opened up my own bank. It might not offer 5%+ interest but it has the side benefit of not being subject to nationalization, bank "holidays", or cash shortages. I confirmed for myself that I was making the right decision in opening this branch when my local USBank branch manager informed me that she would need 7 days to fill my request for a $25k cash withdrawal.

I recognized F&M, but after that the list looks like the same names that have been posted on Calculated Risk, or will be some Friday in the future.

Be aware that there are several different banks named Farmer's and Merchant's Bank. If you Google it, you will find several. They aren't related. So the rates quoted in the post may be from a completely different bank than the one we are familiar with here in Southern California.

what does high deductible health plan mean.?</blockquote>

Are you sure this is the right forumn?

Otherwise a high deductible plan means you pay alot out of the account.... you can put a large amount in there and use it as you wish (for heathcare, that is not taxed). If you pull it out for anythign other than medical then you will get taxed on it. For a FSA you will need to use any money during the "alloted" time period. Do you have health care needs that need attending to?

It means your health plan requires you to pay a high annual deductible. For the exact amount, go to www.irs.gov. Most PPOs qualify. HMOs do not.
